A large transport and logistics center worth about $60.4 million has been launched in the Almaty Region of Kazakhstan. This was reported by the press service of the regional akimat.
The Kusto Logistics multimodal complex is located in Ili District and covers an area of more than 26.5 hectares. The center includes railway infrastructure, a container yard, two warehouses, loading and unloading zones, road logistics, and a control center.
The capacity of the complex allows processing up to 100,000 containers per year and more than 111,000 tons of cargo monthly. The site is equipped with a crane with a lifting capacity of 45 tons, capable of handling up to 25 containers per hour.
The project plans to create 100 jobs. Construction is also underway for a grain terminal with a capacity of up to 14,000 tons of agricultural products.
According to Kusto Group co-founder Kanat Kopbayev, about 80% of Kazakhstan's container cargo passes through the Almaty transport hub. The new terminal is expected to become an important logistics link between the north and south of the country, as well as expand cargo transportation opportunities to neighboring states.
The terminal's operations began with the dispatch of the first container train.
