US President Donald Trump said that the Strait of Hormuz will have significantly less importance in the future due to the construction of a large number of pipelines and the development of alternative oil supply routes.

Trump made this statement while answering questions from journalists at the White House.

Speaking about the cost of oil, the American leader noted that despite the US war against Iran, the price of oil is currently $84–85 per barrel. According to him, one of the reasons for this is that large volumes of oil continue to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

"But in addition, people have found alternative options that they had not thought of - in Texas, Alaska, Louisiana and other places of energy production. Along with this, a large number of pipelines are being built. We are talking about a record number. Therefore, I think that the Strait of Hormuz will be far less important than it used to be," Trump said.
