The Washington administration has not released funds from Iran's frozen assets, thereby violating one of the conditions of the bilateral deal to resolve the conflict. This was stated by the Governor of the Central Bank of Iran, Abdolnaser Hemmati.
"So far, none of the frozen amounts have been unfrozen by the United States in accordance with the memorandum of understanding signed between the parties," he said.
Hemmati also said that banking issues between Iran and Iraq will be resolved in the very near future: "After recent talks with Iraqi officials, obstacles in banking operations have been removed and the groundwork has been laid for the use of these resources in the coming weeks."
At the end of July, the head of the Central Bank of Iran noted that Baghdad's debt to Tehran amounts to approximately $10-11 billion.
