The Swiss Federal Council has decided to implement additional measures from the 20th package of anti-Russian sanctions adopted by the European Union in April, according to a press release from the authority.

The new measures will take effect on August 20 and target LNG, exports, and the financial sector.

The authority said the new restrictions include a ban on servicing LNG tankers and icebreakers, as well as LNG terminals in Russia. A ban on the sale of tankers to Russia is now in effect. Contracts for the sale of tankers to third countries must now include a clause prohibiting their resale to Russia.

In the trade sector, the sanctions introduce a new system designed to prevent the circumvention of previously imposed measures.

The Swiss authorities also impose a ban on the use of Russian platforms for transferring and exchanging crypto assets. The Federal Council has also prohibited support for the development of Russian cryptocurrencies, such as the digital ruble.

In addition, additional measures have been adopted to protect Swiss companies, aimed at ensuring intellectual property rights and protecting against court decisions in Russia.
