Dubai International Airport reported that passenger traffic in the first half of the year fell by nearly a third due to the war in Iran. Bloomberg reported this on August 26.
"The airport said in a statement that it served 13 million passengers in the second quarter, bringing the total number of passengers for the first half to 31.5 million. That is 31% less than the record level achieved a year earlier," the report said.
The airport's management expects passenger traffic to increase in the second half of the year, as this period is usually a busier season. Due to the conflict in the Middle East, Dubai Airport has repeatedly faced disruptions, leading to changes in flight routes worldwide.
As the agency writes, many European airlines have suspended flights to a significant part of the region, including Bahrain and Israel, and "are avoiding airspace over a number of Gulf countries" due to ongoing security concerns.
Dmitry Arutyunov, general director of Art-Tour, said on June 22 that prices for tours to popular Middle Eastern countries have fallen to record levels, showing a fourfold decrease. Despite the absence of military tension in the region, recent events have had a strong impact on the tourism industry.
