In January-August 2026, the airports of Baku, Nakhchivan, and Ganja jointly served more than 5.7 million passengers and performed more than 46,000 flights. The total passenger traffic across the three airports remained at the level of the same period in 2025, while the number of flights increased by 1.5%.
The bulk of passenger traffic was handled by Heydar Aliyev International Airport. In January-August 2026, Baku airport served more than 4.9 million passengers and performed 39,525 flights.
The most notable dynamics at Baku airport were recorded in the transit passenger segment. In January-August, the number of transit passengers reached 373,733, an increase of 34% compared to the same period in 2025.
The highest daily passenger figure for the first eight months of the year was recorded on August 15, 2026. On that day, Heydar Aliyev International Airport served 31,360 passengers and performed 233 flights.
Positive dynamics continued at regional airports. Nakhchivan International Airport served 574,000 passengers in January-August 2026. This figure increased by 12.7% compared to the same period in 2025. During the same period, the airport performed 5,692 flights, with the number of flights increasing by 11.7% year-on-year.
At Ganja International Airport, 147,000 passengers were served and 1,107 flights were performed in the first eight months of 2026. Compared to January-August 2025, the number of passengers increased by 4.9%, and the number of flights by 2.1%.
Amid ongoing geopolitical uncertainty in the region and changes affecting air transportation, maintaining overall passenger traffic at the level of the same period in 2025, as well as the continued growth of transit and regional transportation, indicates the resilience of passenger demand.
