Wood Nobel Energy has been selected as the contractor for front-end engineering design (FEED) works under the Nakhchivan combined-cycle thermal power plant (CCTPP) project being implemented in Azerbaijan. This strategically important project will significantly contribute to increasing electricity production and expanding the export potential of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
The FEED stage, ordered by SOCAR Midstream Gas Operations, will include the development of technical solutions and the definition of the project implementation concept. The results of this stage will serve as the basis for subsequent design, procurement, and construction works.
The Nakhchivan combined-cycle thermal power plant, which will be more efficient than traditional power plants, will utilize and reuse heat energy generated during production that would otherwise be lost. The plant is being designed with the possibility of further increasing its generating capacity.
The project is being implemented in accordance with the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 418 dated December 23, 2024, "On measures related to the construction of a new thermal power plant in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic." The order provides for increasing electricity production and expanding the export potential of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
The joint venture Wood Nobel Energy combines Wood's global experience in engineering and energy infrastructure with Nobel Energy's knowledge of the Azerbaijani market, as well as its local workforce and supply chain capabilities. Leveraging international technical standards and advanced engineering expertise, the company provides high-quality engineering services in the country.
The plant will be built on a site that allows efficient use of existing and prospective infrastructure. This approach will optimize project implementation and enhance the efficiency of future operations.
