Uzbekistan and India have agreed to elevate bilateral relations to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership, including increasing bilateral trade to $5 billion by 2030. This was reported by the press service of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The agreements were reached during a meeting between President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on August 30 at the Kuksaroy residence in Tashkent. The leaders discussed further deepening Uzbek-Indian strategic partnership relations and expanding multifaceted cooperation. The sides noted active contacts at various levels.

By the end of 2025, trade turnover between the two countries exceeded $1 billion for the first time. Over recent years, the number of joint ventures has increased sevenfold. There are 14 direct flights per week between Uzbekistan and India.

Following the talks, the sides agreed to intensify political contacts and exchanges at all levels. In particular, this concerns interaction between parliamentary friendship groups, the Intergovernmental Commission, and the Business Council. A special mechanism at the level of foreign ministers is planned to coordinate bilateral interaction.

The leaders also discussed expanding industrial cooperation and implementing new joint projects. Promising areas include energy, electrical engineering, metallurgy, critical minerals, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and jewelry industry.

Mirziyoyev and Modi exchanged views on topical issues of the international and regional agenda. The leaders noted effective interaction between the two countries within international structures, including the UN, SCO, BRICS, and others.

At the end of the negotiations, heads of ministries and agencies were instructed to intensify work on joint projects and programs. For each priority area, separate roadmaps are planned with specific implementation mechanisms, responsible executors, and timelines.

Following the meeting, Uzbekistan and India signed a number of bilateral documents aimed at further developing cooperation in trade, economic, investment, cultural, humanitarian, tourism, educational, and other spheres.
