President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliev sent a congratulatory letter to President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The letter was published on the official website of the President of Azerbaijan.
The letter reads:
"Dear Shavkat Miromonovich,
Dear Brother,
I am glad to convey to you, and in your person to your fraternal people, heartfelt congratulations and best wishes on the occasion of the significant anniversary – the 35th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan, on my own behalf and on behalf of the people of Azerbaijan.
During the period since gaining independence, fraternal Uzbekistan has traversed a path of comprehensive and dynamic development, achieved great successes, and gained high authority and respect in the international arena and in the region.
Thanks to your wise leadership and strategic vision, large-scale reforms and creative work have been successfully implemented in all spheres in your country, economic progress has been achieved, and the social welfare of the population has been ensured.
At the foundation of Uzbekistan's achievement of its goals and objectives, and all its successes, lie your tireless work, as well as the great trust of your people and their support for your resolute state policy. As a fraternal country and ally, we consider every success of Uzbekistan as our own success and are proud of it. Every time I visit your unique and hospitable country, I witness important achievements of Uzbekistan. I recall with the most pleasant impressions my recent state visit to the fraternal country and my meeting with you.
Azerbaijani-Uzbek relations, built on common historical and cultural ties, unbreakable friendship and brotherhood, are today at their peak. Further comprehensive development and deepening of our bilateral relations with Uzbekistan is one of our priority issues. I am glad that as a result of our joint efforts, interstate ties and our alliance are strengthening day by day, and multifaceted cooperation is filled with new practical content.
I am confident that we will continue to successfully fulfill, through joint efforts, the honorable mission entrusted to us to protect and preserve Azerbaijani-Uzbek unity, which is our greatest asset, to develop comprehensive cooperation, and to consistently strengthen our alliance.
