Kyrgyz Finance Minister Ruslan Suinaliev met with World Bank Regional Director for Central Asia Naji Benhassine, Kabar reports, citing the ministry. The two sides discussed the current state of cooperation and prospects for expanding it.
According to the ministry, particular attention was paid to the macroeconomic situation, sustained growth rates and financing for major projects in priority areas. The minister said that in the first seven months of 2026, Kyrgyzstan's GDP grew by 11.1%, the budget is running a surplus, and investment in infrastructure, social and energy projects is rising.
Participants exchanged views on the implementation of the Kambarata HPP-1 project, budget support and additional financing under the IDA-21 program. Suinaliev praised the World Bank's support in advancing the hydropower plant project. They also discussed stepping up cooperation on the AgriConnect initiative for agricultural development.
Separately, they discussed international assessments CPIA and Business Ready, as well as advancing reforms to improve public administration, the public financial management system and the business environment. Following the meeting, the sides confirmed their readiness to strengthen their strategic partnership and expand cooperation on new major projects. Specific financing amounts and timelines were not disclosed in the statement.
