Work continues on the development of the Bilal gas field, a joint gas field of Iran and Qatar.
According to Iran's Ministry of Oil, this was stated by Ehsan Mohammadi, a representative of the Iranian company Petro Pars.
"Currently, within the framework of the Bilal gas field development project, physical work is approximately 42% complete. Drilling of one well and installation of the jacket structure have been successfully completed. Work on the preparation and installation of the platform, as well as drilling and completion of 8 wells, is approximately 50% complete," he noted.
Mohammadi said that in total, gas production at the Bilal field will be carried out from 8 wells. At present, drilling of 2 wells at this field has been completed, and drilling of the remaining wells is ongoing.
The company representative added that commissioning the Bilal gas field within the next two years will allow an additional 14 million cubic meters of gas per day, which will partially cover the country's gas deficit.
Mohammadi noted that given the existing deficit in the gas sector, accelerating work on projects is one of the main necessary tasks, and all areas of activity are working to strengthen the country's gas production capacity.
"The Bilal gas field development project includes 5 work packages. They include drilling, jacket preparation, platform preparation and installation, well completion, and pipeline laying. Despite various restrictions, including sanctions against Iran, the coronavirus pandemic, and the two recent wars, work on the Bilal gas field development project has never stopped," he noted.
