In the second quarter of 2026, Azerbaijan saw a significant increase in the number and volume of transactions on the primary exchange market in manats, while the secondary market in manats saw a decline in trading volume despite a rise in the number of deals. This is according to the Statistical Bulletin for the first and second quarters of 2026, published by the National Depository Center.

According to the bulletin, in Q2 the number of transactions on the primary exchange market in manats reached 21,919, with a total volume of 917,152,540 manats. In Q1, these figures were 1,245 transactions and 417,780,907 manats, respectively. Thus, in Q2 compared to Q1, the number of transactions on the primary exchange market in manats increased by 20,674, and their total volume rose by 499,371,633 manats.

On the primary exchange market in US dollars, 106 transactions were concluded in Q2 with a total volume of $5 million. In Q1, the number of transactions was 104, and their volume was $2 million.

On the secondary exchange market in manats, 5,533 transactions were concluded in Q2 with a total volume of 138,371,564 manats. In Q1, the number of transactions was 3,031, and their volume was 629,017,866 manats. Thus, in Q2, the number of transactions on the secondary exchange market in manats increased by 2,502, but their total volume decreased by 490,646,302 manats.

On the secondary exchange market in US dollars, 275 transactions were concluded in Q2 with a total volume of $41,040,207. In Q1, these figures were 199 transactions and $29,974,183, respectively. Thus, in Q2, the number of transactions on the secondary market in dollars increased by 76, and their total volume rose by $11,066,024.

Overall, in Q2 2026 compared to the previous quarter, there was an increase in the number and volume of transactions on the primary exchange market in manats, as well as an increase in the number and volume of transactions on the primary and secondary markets in US dollars. At the same time, on the secondary market in manats, the number of transactions grew, while their total volume decreased significantly.
