According to Rosstat, consumer prices in Russia rose by 0.54% in July 2026 compared to June, when growth was 0.87%. From January to July, prices increased by 4.75%, higher than the same period last year (4.36%).
Annual inflation slowed to 5.98% in July from 6.02% at the end of June. Analysts had expected an acceleration to 6.10%. The core consumer price index in July was 100.44% compared to the previous month and 105.22% year-on-year.
Food products rose by 0.29% in July (4.39% year-on-year). Fruit and vegetable products fell by 2.32% (up 0.04% year-on-year). Non-food products increased by 1.26% (6.39% year-on-year), and services by 0.07% (7.76% year-on-year).
Among food products, prices for cucumbers (-18.0%) and tomatoes (-14.0%) fell significantly. Prices for meat (+6.1%), sugar (+7.2%), and buckwheat (+2.8%) rose. Chicken eggs fell by 3.5%, and cheeses by 1.2%.
Gasoline prices rose by 6.5% in July, diesel by 9.2%, and gas motor fuel by 22.4%.
In the services sector, prices for holidays on the Black Sea coast of Russia fell by 6.4%, but trips to Central Asian countries (+10.7%) and the South Caucasus (+7.4%) became more expensive.
