The White House's top cryptocurrency adviser, Patrick Witt, is no longer executive director of the President's Council of Advisers on Digital Assets. Journalist Eleanor Terrett reported the news, citing informed sources.

In a comment to The Block, a White House representative clarified that Witt's temporary appointment had come to an end. The administration thanked him for his work and wished him success in his future career.

Witt is an employee of the U.S. Department of Defense and was temporarily assigned to the Council. He had been expected to leave the White House as early as July 2026 due to mandatory training with the Georgia National Guard, but the training was postponed.

Witt thus becomes the third senior administration official to leave the leadership of the crypto portfolio. In March 2026, David Sacks, adviser to the president on artificial intelligence and digital assets, stepped down, and in July, council deputy director Harry Jung left.

As of publication, the White House had not announced who will lead the council following Witt's departure.
