Azerbaijan and the United States have discussed prospects for developing their strategic partnership, according to a statement from Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It was reported that on August 10, during a visit to the United States, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov held a meeting with Andrew Stow, First Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs.
"During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the current state and prospects for the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the US, and the importance of further expanding the partnership between the two countries across a wide range of areas was emphasized.
The focus of the discussions included, in particular, issues related to the implementation of the Charter on Strategic Partnership between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the United States of America, as well as the outcomes of the Baku Economic Dialogue.
In addition, the sides exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest and confirmed their readiness to continue close cooperation and hold consultations on matters serving the promotion of peace, security, and prosperity," the statement said.
