China and the United States are the world's two superpowers, and there is no third. This was stated by President Ilham Aliyev while speaking at the 8th Congress of the New Azerbaijan Party on October 2.
"We have declarations and agreements on strategic partnership with many member states of the European Union. Azerbaijan has such a format with ten member states. I can say that two historic events have occurred recently: we have established strategic partnership relations with China and America. A Declaration on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership was signed with China, and a Strategic Charter with the United States of America. These are the two superpowers of the world, there is no third. And it is true that between these countries, naturally, issues are discussed and there is a certain competition. The definition of rules by these countries on the basis of a common understanding could become the most important factor for the whole world. And with these two superpowers, Azerbaijan is a strategic partner. That is, our population and our territory are not so large. What is this? It is trust in us, the attitude towards us, faith in our word. There is no one left in the world who does not know that our word has the same value as our signature. We fulfill everything we say. We have never played double games. We have never shown duplicity or hypocrisy towards any country. Although we have encountered such an attitude repeatedly and continue to encounter it today. However, we can never become like them. We are people who respect ourselves, we live with dignity and conduct our policy with dignity. By our example, everyone can be convinced that this is possible. To defeat the enemy alone, to dictate our terms to the enemy, to force him to sign an act of capitulation, despite the fact that he caused you suffering for 30 years, and then stop at the right moment, achieve peace so that blood is no longer shed. Because we do not need eternal war, that was not our choice. In the Second Karabakh War we stopped at the right moment, and in September 2023 we also stopped at the right moment.
