A passenger aircraft MC-21-310 built using serial production technologies has completed a nonstop ferry flight from Irkutsk to the Gromov Flight Research Institute airfield in the Moscow region, covering more than 4,000 kilometers, according to Rostec.
The flight proceeded normally, with all systems operating as expected. At the Moscow region airfield, specialists from the United Aircraft Corporation will check all aircraft systems after the long flight and prepare it for painting in the customer's livery.
"The long flight of the serial MC-21 aircraft once again demonstrated the reliability of the design solutions and the domestic components and systems used in the aircraft. Certification flights are currently underway, and this aircraft may also join them in the future. In parallel, the corporation's broad cooperation of enterprises has established production chains for serial production of the aircraft. The Irkutsk Aviation Plant is ready to take on new orders for the MC-21," Rostec noted.
The MC-21-310 medium-haul passenger aircraft is equipped with Russian components and systems, from flight controls and wing mechanization to onboard radio-electronic equipment and power plants. The aircraft is powered by PD-14 engines produced by the United Engine Corporation.
The first serial fully import-substituted MC-21-310 took to the skies for the first time from the Irkutsk Aviation Plant airfield on August 3, piloted by test pilots. The flight lasted one hour and 23 minutes at altitudes up to 6,000 meters and instrument speeds up to 600 km/h, during which the aircraft's stability and controllability in various configurations and the operation of aircraft systems were checked.
As previously stated by Rostec CEO Sergei Chemezov, the completion of certification flights and the start of serial production of the MC-21-310 are planned for 2027.
