Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi responded to US President Donald Trump's statement about his intention to declare the Strait of Hormuz US territory. The Iranian diplomat wrote about this on his social media page.
"The Strait of Hormuz cannot be seized by posts on X, aircraft carriers, orders, or campaign speeches. Iran is not afraid of threats or shows of force," he wrote.
Addressing Donald Trump, Gharibabadi stressed that the US must acknowledge its "strategic and heavy defeats" in the war against Iran.
"The Strait of Hormuz belonged to Iran, belongs to Iran, and will belong to Iran. This strait will be opened and closed only by Iran's order, and until you admit the real defeat and abandon your illusions, Iran will continue the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz," he emphasized.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump stated that the US Navy had established a complete blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. "After we completely defeat Iran, I will soon declare the Strait of Hormuz US territory," the White House chief said.
In turn, Iranian officials said that the Strait of Hormuz will not be opened if the US continues regular interference, naval blockade, and failure to comply with the terms of the agreement signed between Tehran and Washington on June 17.
Donald Trump also noted that the US has "full control" over the Strait of Hormuz and is capable of maintaining it.
