Iran has rejected statements by U.S. President Donald Trump about the possible declaration of the Strait of Hormuz as U.S. territory.
"Trump said that after Iran's defeat, he will declare the Strait of Hormuz U.S. territory. The Strait of Hormuz cannot be conquered by tweet, aircraft carrier, executive order, or campaign speech," wrote Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi on social media platform X.
According to him, Iran is not afraid of threats or shows of force, emphasizing that "the strait was, is, and will remain Iranian."
"The strait will be closed and opened only by Iran's order, and until they (the U.S. - IF) recognize the reality of their defeat and stop making insane statements, Iran will continue the blockade," Gharibabadi assured.
The Iranian diplomat's remarks came in response to Trump's assertion that after defeating Iran, he could declare the Strait of Hormuz U.S. territory.
