Azerbaijan Railways (ADY) is preparing to resume passenger train service on the Khirdalan-Sumgait line before the start of the new school year. This was reported by the ADY press service.
As part of the implementation of the "State Program on Improving Transport Infrastructure in the City of Baku and Adjacent Territories for 2025-2030," the construction of a new automobile underpass beneath the railway tracks on the Khirdalan-Guzdek section has been completed, and preparatory work has begun to restore passenger transportation on the railway line in that direction.
Currently, an inspection of the road infrastructure on the Khirdalan-Sumgait section is underway, and repair work continues on the rolling stock that will be put into operation on the new lines intended for this direction.
After all these works are completed, train service to Sumgait along the Baku-Khirdalan-Sumgait route will be resumed before the start of the new school year. These trains will run daily in regular mode.
