Azerbaijan Railways (ADY) is introducing additional services on the Baku–Tbilisi–Baku route to meet growing passenger demand on the international link and expand travel options, the company said.
From 1 November 2026, four trains will operate daily on the Baku–Tbilisi–Baku route. As a result, the number of passenger seats will increase from 386 to 564, or by almost 50 percent.
The launch of the new services will offer passengers more budget-friendly travel options. Standard-class tickets (formerly platskart carriages) on the additional services start at 36 manats. Thanks to the new budget option, passengers will be able to travel 30 percent cheaper. The minimum one-way fare from Baku to Tbilisi is 54 manats, from Yevlakh — 44 manats, from Ganja — 41 manats, from Agstafa — 38 manats, and from Boyuk Kesik to Tbilisi — 36 manats.
For comparison, the current minimum fare from Baku to Tbilisi in comfort-class carriages of the Stadler train is 77.50 manats, and from Ganja — 56.80 manats.
Ticket sales for the additional services will start on 2 October.
The additional services will give passengers the opportunity to travel not only at night but also during the day, and to choose a time that suits their plans.
According to the new schedule, the existing Baku–Tbilisi–Baku train will depart the capital at 23:00 and arrive in Tbilisi at 08:41 the next day. From Tbilisi, the train will depart at 11:00 and arrive at Baku railway station at 20:26.
The train on the new service will depart Baku daily at 09:10 and arrive in the Georgian capital at 19:11. In the opposite direction, the train will start at 22:00 and arrive in Baku at 07:57 the next day.
To further improve online ticket purchasing on this route and prevent possible abuses, a number of innovations have been introduced. Passengers registered on the ADY website and in the ADY Mobile app must verify their account data using MyGov ID. This step serves to protect passengers' interests and ensure more reliable online ticket purchasing. After entering the FIN code in the relevant section, all necessary data will be displayed in the personal account. Account verification is mandatory for ticket purchase.
Foreign citizens must enter the name of their country of citizenship and the corresponding phone number in a special section. After confirming the phone number with an OTP code sent by SMS, personal data can be changed. Previously registered users also need to confirm their phone number via OTP to purchase tickets.
