Tenants in Dubai can now register a lease through Ejari and pay the utility company’s security deposit within the same DubaiNow application. The Dubai Land Department announced the upgraded service on November 2.

Landlords and tenants confirm their actions with UAE PASS, the national digital identity. The system issues an Ejari registration certificate as soon as the agreement is approved. Renewals and cancellations can also be completed digitally.

The DEWA deposit is for activating electricity and water. It is distinct from any security deposit a landlord may require under the lease. The update changes how services are arranged, not how much rent is due.
