French company Sesterce, which specializes in artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, plans to invest more than €10 billion in the construction of a data center in Finland, Reuters reports, citing a company statement.

The project will be implemented in the town of Jämsä in central Finland, on the site of a paper mill that closed in 2021.

Construction of the first phase is scheduled to begin in 2026. Its capacity will be 200 MW, and in the second phase this figure is expected to be increased to 600 MW.

The company said a key customer has already been found for the new data center.

In the long term, Sesterce intends to create AI infrastructure in Finland with a total capacity of more than 1 GW. New facilities are planned to be located at existing industrial sites, taking into account market demand.

According to Reuters, Sesterce's project will be another major foreign technology investment in Finland's economy.
