Kazakhstan and China have launched a joint digital platform for trading grain and agricultural products. This was reported by the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan.
The new tool creates a direct channel of interaction between exporters and Chinese buyers, the ministry noted. According to the press service, the first practical result of the platform's operation was the signing of a contract for the supply of 24,000 tons of flax.
The platform was launched as part of the Kazakh delegation's participation in the 8th China Grain Trade Conference.
Already, 35 Kazakh companies have registered on the trading platform. At the first stage, the platform will facilitate trade in grains, oilseeds, vegetable oil, and oil and fat products. In the future, the list of goods may be expanded based on demand from the Chinese market.
The platform is operated by the Grain Trade Coordination Center under the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration of China (NAFRA).
