The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Azerbaijan has called on citizens to be cautious when making online purchases.
The ministry notes that despite regular awareness campaigns and numerous warnings, cases of cyber fraud during online purchases are still being observed.
Research and complaints show that cyber fraudsters create fake sales pages, offer various goods at attractive prices, and after receiving payment, cease contact with citizens and block their phone numbers and social media accounts:
"To prevent such cases, citizens are advised to check in advance the reliability of sales pages they encounter on the internet and social media, not to order goods from people they do not know or trust, and to be especially cautious with offers requiring prepayment.
Before ordering goods and making payment, it is important to verify the accuracy of information about the seller, contact details, and the provided page. Do not pay for purchases on pages and websites you do not trust or are unsure of their authenticity, do not share your bank card details, CVV/CVC codes, confirmation codes sent via SMS, or other confidential information with third parties," the statement reads.
In case of encountering cyber fraud, citizens should immediately contact the MIA support service via the short number '102' or through the ministry's official social media accounts.
