Apple Inc. has asked some suppliers to cut production of components for its recently launched iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models, as rising memory chip prices and higher device costs weigh on consumer demand.

Nikkei Asia reported the move, citing sources.

According to those sources, the company has taken a more cautious approach to supply forecasts since early September. As a result, orders for components for October were cut by at least 15% compared with initial plans.

In June, Apple raised prices for the iPad and MacBook, saying it could no longer shield buyers from the sharp rise in memory chip and storage prices driven by the expansion of data center infrastructure for artificial intelligence (AI) systems.
