The United States is stepping up its focus on the South Caucasus, viewing the region's potential for developing the Trans-Caspian trade corridor and expanding opportunities for American business.
The remarks were made by US Chargé d'Affaires ad interim in Azerbaijan Amy Carlon at the Second Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2026).
According to her, over the past 14 months, relations between the US and Azerbaijan have seen significant development, including a visit by the US Vice President, the holding of the first economic dialogue and subsequent contacts.
"I think it is quite obvious that the United States is now prioritizing the South Caucasus region," Carlon said.
She also noted an event held the previous day in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly dedicated to the TRIPP project, as well as a speech by US President Donald Trump in which he highlighted the agreement reached between Azerbaijan and Armenia in August.
"This is not something that will disappear. This is a new focus of the US government, because we truly see the potential of the South Caucasus in this Trans-Caspian trade corridor, as well as the potential for American business, shared prosperity and how we can truly bring peace and new opportunities to this region," Carlon emphasized.
