Donald Trump expects talks on Lukoil’s overseas assets and cooperation with Russia on natural gas production in Alaska to eventually lead to agreements.

According to FinFly, the US president made the remarks while answering reporters’ questions at Joint Base Andrews near Washington before travelling to Michigan.

Asked about the prospects for the two areas of cooperation, Trump said the deals would be concluded at some point.

He linked his position to the need to resolve the Russia–Ukraine conflict. In his view, the oil industry should not remain constrained by a situation that should have been settled long ago.

Trump also reiterated that the war should never have started and called for a settlement. His remarks expressed an expectation of future agreements rather than announcing completed deals.
