Companies from Nordic countries are showing growing interest in Azerbaijan's energy transition. This was stated by Emil Mirzoev, Executive Director of the Swedish-Azerbaijani Trade Chamber, in a social media post.
According to him, the next phase of energy cooperation may go beyond traditional energy generation.
"During recent meetings with companies from Nordic countries, we have seen a steady increase in interest in Azerbaijan's energy transition agenda. It is no longer solely about energy production. Increasingly, companies are analyzing the infrastructure needed for large-scale implementation of new projects," Mirzoev emphasized.
The focus of business attention includes grid modernization, high-voltage transmission, substation construction, integration of renewable energy sources (RES), cross-border infrastructure, as well as engineering and technological solutions.
"This opens up interesting opportunities for the Nordic countries," he added.
According to the chamber's head, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark have strong competencies in many of these areas, while Azerbaijan is strengthening its role as a key energy hub and transport link connecting Europe, the Caspian region, and Central Asia.
"The opportunity lies not just in supplying technology to Azerbaijan, but in becoming part of the infrastructure that connects the region with European energy markets. This is where, I believe, business diplomacy can convert current business contacts into practical investments and partnerships. The energy transition is not only about producing more clean energy; it is also about creating systems that allow this energy to move. And it is here that I see significant potential for strengthening cooperation between Northern Europe and Azerbaijan," Mirzoev stated.
