In the first eight days of the current Iranian month (August 23 – September 22, 2026), total gasoline consumption in Iran amounted to about 1 billion 200 million liters. This is stated in a report by the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company.
It is noted that during these eight days, the minimum daily consumption volume was 135 million liters, and the maximum was 154 million liters.
It is reported that in recent days, gasoline consumption in the capital Tehran has increased by 30% and reached 26–27 million liters per day. This is considered the highest figure related to daily gasoline consumption in Tehran in the current Iranian year (March 21, 2025 – March 20, 2026).
"Studies show that the emergence of long queues at some gas stations is largely due to spreading rumors about gasoline shortages, and the increase in consumer demand is driven by a psychological factor. Despite this, the needs for gasoline supply across the country are met through the stable continuation of production and refining, and all processes related to fuel supply are carried out to the maximum extent," the report says.
It should be noted that, according to available data, gasoline production in Iran exceeds 120 million liters per day.
