Georgia plans to allocate $7 billion over the coming years for the development of port and other infrastructure. This was announced by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze to journalists in Batumi.
According to him, the investments will allow the country to fully utilize its transit potential.
"We connect seven landlocked countries with the Black Sea and, accordingly, with the Western space. Therefore, expanding relevant political and economic ties is our main priority," the Prime Minister said.
Kobakhidze noted that in January-July of this year, cargo turnover in Georgian ports increased by 24% compared to the same period last year. He also reported that cargo flow along the Middle Corridor has increased approximately sevenfold since 2020.
"We connect Europe and Asia, East and West. The main thing is not to weaken attention. We must take maximum care in developing our potential," the Prime Minister emphasized.
According to Kobakhidze, Georgia also attaches particular importance to cooperation with China and has free trade agreements with many countries.
