In the European Union, prices for motor fuel and oils for personal transport rose by 16.9% in July compared with July 2024, according to Eurostat.
In June, they increased by 13.7%, in May by 20.7%, in April by 20.8%, and in March by 12.9%. Before February, fuel prices were mostly declining both across the EU and in most member states, the report notes.
In July, price increases were recorded in 25 of the 27 EU countries. The most significant rises occurred in Romania (+24.2%), Germany and Lithuania (+22.9%), Bulgaria (+22.2%), the Netherlands (+22%), and Finland (+20.5%). In Hungary, however, prices fell by 0.1%.
