Azerenergy OJSC is completing the first stage of construction of the Zangezur power transmission line (PTL), which will connect the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic to the country's main power grid and become part of the Azerbaijan-Nakhchivan-Turkey-Europe international energy corridor.

According to Azerenergy, a double-circuit 330 kV line with a capacity of 1,000 MW has been built on the section from Jabrayil to Aghband, stretching 74 km.

A total of 296 towers, up to 45 meters high and weighing over 30 tons each, have been installed. The work is 97% complete and was finished ahead of schedule despite challenging climatic conditions.

The next stage will involve the construction of the Ordubad-Nakhchivan line (100 km), a line through the Zangezur corridor (44 km), and the Nakhchivan-Turkey line (230 km).

The project is of strategic importance for the full integration of Nakhchivan into the unified energy system, eliminating dependence on external frequency regulation, accessing European markets, and transmitting green energy. It is one of the largest energy projects in Azerbaijan's history.
