Azerbaijan's financial management has earned a high score in the Chandler Good Government Index 2026 (CGGI 2026), published by the Chandler Governance Group. The news was reported by Azerbaijan's Ministry of Finance.

In one of the index's main assessment categories — Financial Stewardship — Azerbaijan ranked third among 133 countries, after Singapore and Norway.

The assessment for this criterion was based on indicators including budget surplus, government spending efficiency and government debt. Azerbaijan ranked first for budget surplus, 16th for government spending efficiency and 26th for government debt.

The report states that in countries with strong results in Financial Stewardship, including Azerbaijan, effective public financial management, budget discipline and fiscal transparency are important conditions of governance for delivering better outcomes for citizens and economic development.
