Fariz Jafarov, Executive Director of the Center for Analysis and Coordination of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4SİM) under the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan, participated in an online meeting dedicated to shaping national agendas within the World Economic Forum's (WEF) Fourth Industrial Revolution Centers Network.
According to 4SİM, the meeting discussed the contribution of network centers to the formation of strategic initiatives at the national level, as well as successful practices in this area.
Fariz Jafarov presented information on the 'Strategy for the Development of the Digital Economy in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026-2029'. It was noted that the strategy aims to accelerate digital transformation in business, society, and the public sector, develop digital skills, and strengthen data-driven governance. The strategy covers 9 priority areas and 50 initiatives.
The emerging Industry 4.0 ecosystem in Azerbaijan was presented, along with ongoing efforts to support technological and green transformation of enterprises, develop human capital, and introduce new technologies. It was noted that under the strategy, by 2029, it is planned to involve 300 enterprises in digital transformation programs, create 250 new industry startups, ensure 200 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) enter digital markets, and attract 40,000 citizens to specialized training.
The meeting was attended by heads of 24 member centers of the Network, as well as Manju George, Head of Strategic Impact at the WEF Center for Advanced Technologies and Innovation. In addition to Azerbaijan, representatives from the Fourth Industrial Revolution Centers of Rwanda and Malaysia also shared their experiences. During the meeting, participants exchanged views on effective participation in shaping national agendas, cooperation with stakeholders, successful approaches, and existing challenges.
