Azerbaijan, while being a hydrocarbon exporter, is simultaneously actively developing green energy and becoming an exporter of electricity based on green technologies. This was stated by Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev, speaking on the second day of the CAMCA Regional Forum in Baku.
"We are combining the potential of Central Asia with the potential of Azerbaijan and directing this energy potential to the European continent," the Presidential Aide noted.
H. Hajiyev emphasized that a realistic approach is necessary in developing green energy. According to him, Europe's demand for electricity will grow, including due to the development of digital technologies and artificial intelligence. He also noted the continuing role of hydrocarbons in ensuring energy security. "Without hydrocarbons, we cannot ensure full energy security," the Presidential Aide stated.
According to him, Azerbaijan continues to act as a pan-European supplier of energy resources and to ensure Europe's energy security. H. Hajiyev noted that alongside energy, the development of transport and other connectivity is of great importance: "All these elements are part of Azerbaijan's new concept of economic diplomacy."
In his opinion, the broader Caspian region could become a new direction for a new wave of investment, business and cooperation.
