The Armenian government intends to recover $2 billion in assets illegally obtained by certain individuals and legal entities by 2031. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made this announcement at a government meeting.
"We have set ourselves the task of returning to the state about $2 billion in illegally acquired assets (by certain individuals and legal entities - ed.) between 2026 and 2031," he said.
According to him, such expectations become more realistic as the legal mechanisms for confiscating illegal property (cash, real estate) begin to function fully.
Pashinyan noted that for almost 8 years, until the end of 2025, these mechanisms were in the process of formation, until the relevant decision of the Constitutional Court and a number of other legal acts were adopted.
He noted that these goals are also fixed in the draft government program for 2026-2031.
