Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that proposals to improve the competitiveness of Armenia's railways will be prepared within three months.
He made the statement at a briefing in Yerevan following talks with Oleg Belozerov, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Russian Railways.
"I have already said that we have no fundamental problems with the fact that Armenia's railways are under Russian concession. Our task is to ensure the competitiveness of our railway. During yesterday's conversation, I also noted that our analysis shows that to achieve this goal it would be more appropriate to change the concession management model, that is, to transfer management to a third party. However, if our Russian partners claim they know how to resolve this issue, let them present their proposals. Following the discussions, I said: 'Very well, let's create a group that within three months will find the answer to the question of how to ensure the competitiveness of Armenia's railway,'" Pashinyan said.
It is worth noting that the day before, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met in Yerevan with Oleg Belozerov, CEO of Russian Railways.
