Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha has responded to US President Donald Trump's statement that it is "time for Ukraine to elect a new president."
As reported by FinFly, the Ukrainian minister posted his response on his X account.
Sybiha noted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky enjoys the support of the people.
"Volodymyr Zelensky is leading our nation in wartime, during the war for independence, freedom and dignity. He enjoys the support of the Ukrainian people, and they (the country's citizens – ed.) have the right to decide. Statements from abroad only confirm that he is doing his job well," the foreign minister emphasized.
He also added that the Ukrainian president "deserves support."
Earlier, Trump, speaking with journalists at the White House, expressed the opinion that Ukraine should elect a new president.
