Exchange gas prices in Europe fell nearly 4% in the first trading session of the new month, to $676 per thousand cubic meters, according to data from the London-based ICE exchange.

September (nearest) futures on the TTF index (the largest distribution hub in Europe, located in the Netherlands) opened trading at $666.7 (-5.2%). The price then stood at $675.5 (-3.9%).

The dynamics are measured against the settlement price of the previous trading day, which was $703.2 per thousand cubic meters.

Gas prices in Europe began to rise on March 2, the first trading day after the US and Israel launched strikes on Iran. Average exchange prices for March ultimately rose by almost 60% compared with February, exceeding $600 per thousand cubic meters for the first time since February 2023.
