From August 1, 2021, to August 1, 2026, a total of 130.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas was transported through the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum (South Caucasus Pipeline) gas pipeline.
As reported by FinFly.News citing the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), today marks the fifth anniversary of SOCAR's operation of the South Caucasus Pipeline.
In the first half of the current year, the volume of gas transported along the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum route amounted to 11.442 billion cubic meters, exceeding the figure for the same period in 2025 by 1.84%.
It should be noted that SOCAR Midstream Gas Operations LLC has been the commercial operator of the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline since 2015, and in 2021 also assumed the role of technical operator.
The South Caucasus Pipeline delivers gas extracted from the Shah Deniz gas condensate field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea to consumers in Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey. The pipeline was launched in late 2006 as part of the first stage of Shah Deniz development. Since summer 2018, gas from the second stage of Shah Deniz has been flowing through the expanded South Caucasus Pipeline to Turkey, into the TANAP gas transmission system.
