Baku Shipyard: construction of two 780 TEU container vessels
On 3 June 2026, a keel-laying ceremony was held at Baku Shipyard LLC, a company of AZCON Holding, marking the commencement of construction of two 780 TEU container vessels intended to operate in the Caspian Sea. The project is being implemented within the framework of strategic cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates and in partnership with AD Ports Group. The ships, expected to be completed by 2028, are to strengthen the Middle Corridor (Trans-Caspian International Transport Route). According to the source, since commencing operations Baku Shipyard LLC has completed 14 shipbuilding projects and repaired more than 170 vessels; of the 17 vessels in its order portfolio, 11 are under construction and 6 are at the design stage.
