A license agreement for localizing the production of SJ-100 aircraft in India is planned to be signed with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) by the end of 2026. This was announced by Vadim Badekha, CEO of United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, part of Rostec).
"We have a local partner — HAL, with whom we already produce Su-30 and MiG-29 aircraft here. I think we will sign a firm license agreement with them by the end of the year (for the SJ-100 — IF), the degree of elaboration is very deep. That is, we have practically already decided on the partner. I think we will conclude the deal in the very near future," Badekha told journalists at the Innoprom. India forum on Thursday.
He also suggested that production of the Superjets in India could be organized not only under license but also in the format of a joint venture with Indian control. "Maybe, or maybe just a license," Badekha said in response to a corresponding question.
According to him, over the next ten years, India will need about 100 aircraft of the SJ-100 class.
