Representatives of Turkmenistan took part in a seminar titled "Customs Administration within the Agenda for the Development of Interregional Connectivity: Connecting the EU with the Countries of Central Asia, the Black Sea Region and the South Caucasus." According to Turkmenistan's customs service, the event was held on 7–9 September in Warsaw.
The organisers were the European Commission, the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) and Poland's Tax Administration. The course brought together representatives of 15 countries, as well as experts from relevant EU and UN bodies; the stated goal is to strengthen cooperation along the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor.
The seminar's agenda included the introduction of international border control standards, the development of the "Single Window" principle, the harmonisation of transit procedures using the eTIR system and the improvement of risk management systems. Participants identified the main challenges in freight transport along the corridor.
In addition, work has begun on a Joint Action Plan to speed up customs procedures and enhance their security, and the agenda for further meetings has been agreed. These are still plans and interim agreements rather than adopted decisions; the statement does not provide specific deadlines or obligations of the parties.
