The TRIPP project ("Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity") being implemented in Armenia does not involve the presence of foreign security forces, said Sarkis Khhandanyan, a member of the Armenian parliament and a member of the "Civil Contract" party led by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
"The TRIPP project is exclusively an infrastructural project, not a territory or a military base. (...) There will be no presence of security forces from any other state. All security functions are assigned to the Republic of Armenia," Khhandanyan said in parliament on Friday.
The TRIPP project involves the construction of automobile, railway, and oil and gas infrastructure. TRIPP will connect the main territory of Azerbaijan with the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic through the territory of Armenia along a 42 km road, and further to Turkey.
