Russia's Ministry of Transport is working on opening new air routes and increasing flight frequencies to friendly countries in Asia, the Middle East, and other promising tourist destinations. This was announced on September 5 by Russian Transport Minister Andrei Nikitin.
"We are actively working with all friendly states to open new routes and increase frequencies on existing flights," he said.
Nikitin noted that launching each new route requires coordination with the aviation authorities of other countries, assessing carrier interest, and verifying the availability of necessary infrastructure. He added that the Ministry primarily focuses on the most in-demand destinations.
The Ministry has opened new air routes between Russia and Egypt. In particular, on August 15, the first flight from El Alamein arrived in Moscow. Additionally, the Borg El Arab airport destination is now available for Russian tourists. Currently, flights from Russia also operate to Cairo, Hurghada, and Sharm El Sheikh. It was noted that the Ministry of Transport and Rosaviatsia continue to develop air transportation jointly with the Egyptian side.
