Iran and Tajikistan have underscored the importance of accelerating cooperation in rail, road, and air transport, as well as port infrastructure and logistics.
According to Iran's Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, a meeting was held in Tehran on August 15 between Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Farzaneh Sadegh, and Tajikistan's Minister of Transport, Azim Ibrohim, and Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Daler Juma.
At the meeting, Sadegh noted the growth in international rail freight between the two countries in 2025, emphasizing that this reflects the close ties between Iran and Tajikistan.
The minister said that the Apring dry port in Tehran has significant potential for developing bilateral cooperation. Iran welcomes joint Tajik investments in the Apring dry port and other Iranian ports.
Sadegh also stated that it is important to resolve existing problems in road transport between the two countries. She noted that Iran positively assesses multilateral negotiations involving Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and China. According to her, the Farah highway in Afghanistan will be commissioned within the next month and could become an important project for trilateral cooperation.
The minister also stressed the need to increase the number of flights and explore mutual discounts to promote tourism.
"All proposals put forward in the areas of rail, road, and air transport, port infrastructure, and logistics must be formalized in a joint written document," Sadegh said.
