Iranian authorities on Wednesday prevented an Indian tanker from passing through the Strait of Hormuz via the southern route near Oman's coast, the Fars news agency reported.
"A few minutes ago, the Indian tanker HAANA planned to pass through the southern route of the Strait of Hormuz, known as the Oman corridor, but received a warning to stop," the agency said.
Meanwhile, according to the Iranian side, no vessels have used this route over the past 24 hours.
In turn, U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed that the Strait of Hormuz has been cleared of mines and that traffic can proceed as normal.
U.S. officials told Axios that Washington is using the southern route off Oman's coast to escort tankers through the Strait of Hormuz in both directions. Officials noted that over the past 30 days, more than 500 vessels have used this route, with only 2% hit by Iranian drones and missiles.
