A safe temporary route in the Strait of Hormuz may be registered with the International Maritime Organization in the coming days, according to Ismail Baghaei, official spokesman for Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"It can be said that negotiations between Iran and Oman have reached the final stage. It is expected that in the coming days, the agreement between Iran and Oman on a safe temporary route in the Strait of Hormuz will be registered with the International Maritime Organization," he said.

Baghaei noted that some time ago, Iran and Oman, as two coastal states, began negotiations to define safe routes in the Strait of Hormuz. Significant positive progress has been made during the talks.

"If at certain periods there were differences in these negotiations, it was largely due to the influence exerted by some third parties. Overall, third parties intended to damage the negotiation process," he said.
