Iran and Oman have reached an agreement on a vessel passage map through the Strait of Hormuz, but negotiations on some issues continue. This was stated by the official representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Ismail Baghaei.
According to him, Tehran and Muscat have agreed on a map for vessel passage through the strait, while some issues remain under discussion. Iran and Oman are also negotiating an agreement that should help restore shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to sources, this concerns a temporary agreement for a period of 60 days. Under the proposed terms, the entire flow of vessels through the strait towards the Persian Gulf will pass along the northern route through Iranian waters. Outbound traffic through the Strait of Hormuz towards the Arabian Sea will follow the southern route through Oman's territorial waters in coordination with Iran.
